Mr. Rosen is a full-time music faculty member at Walter Reed Middle School. He is also a bassist in the greater Los Angeles area.

Music education is Mr. Rosen’s passion because he believes in the unique value of music class in public schools. He has a deep love for all music, and his goal is to help young people find their creativity through music. He believes music is a subject that helps students become creative thinkers and can help them learn focus, strategy, teamwork, logic, and patience.

After receiving his B.A. in Music Education from Cal State Northridge, Mr. Rosen studied music performance at University of California, Los Angeles and San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Mr. Rosen received his teaching credential from CSUN, and student taught at Walter Reed Middle School under the guidance of Mrs. O’Rourke. Mr. Rosen has presented lectures on string pedagogy at Cal State, Northridge and has worked with many youth orchestras in California.

The Walter Reed Middle School music program has been an award winning music program for decades. The instrumental music program regularly attends the San Francisco Heritage Festival, Music In The Parks Festival at Disneyland, as well as district festivals, and SCSBOA jazz festivals. In recent years, the Chamber Orchestra has performed on the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, and Jazz Band A regularly performs at community events like the Sherman Oaks Street Fair as well as the Studio City Resident’s Association Winter Family Festival. We are also proud of our partnership with the Thelonious Monk Institute who sends a teaching artist to work with our Jazz Band A students each year.
